America Recycles Day is celebrated on November 15th every year. It is committed to inspire people to purchase items made from recycled items and to well, recycle.

America Recycles Day was started in 1997 and has since then it has taught people about the importance of recycling. Now American are recycling more than ever.

Even with all that, Americans only recycle one-third of their waste, which is about 1.5 pounds of waste, given that we produce 4.6 pounds a day. The rate of recycling and composting has gone up though. It rose from 7.7 percent in 1960, t o17 percent.

Recycling helps conserve natural resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, that contribute to global warming. Recycling one ton of aluminum cans can save the energy equivalent to 1,655 gallons of gasoline. Now, a ton of cans is hard to imagine, so picture this. Recycling a single aluminum can save enough power to power your T.V for three hours.

Keep all this in mind when deciding whether to recycle something or not! Have a great America Recycles Day!
