Solar Cars with Mr. Meeks
Students learn how to make solar cars and save energy
Solar cars are now becoming something known to the public. You can purchase these cars in many different shapes and sizes.
But what we are really trying to focus on is a teacher called Mr. Meeks and his design classes. His students are making solar powered cars to learn how to save energy.
They work by attaching a solar panel to the top of a piece of wood with wheels attached to it. They put gears on the back of the back wheels and then a motor connecting them.
Then they attach two wires connecting the motor to the solar panel. When they are heated and have access to solar power they start working. Mr. Meeks says that the point of the project is start with an idea and make it real.
Solar energy is a way you can harvest energy from the sun’s solar rays. Solar energy is not only plentiful, but as long as the sun is in the sky, there will be solar energy.
Solar energy can be used to power almost anything ranging from the cars we drive everyday to the homes and work offices we use for our daily activities we do.
1839 was the year solar energy was discovered by Alexandra Edmond. She proved that by shining light on an electrode submerged in a conductive solution it would create an electric current.
