Harvest’s First Track Meet of the Year!

Harvest's First Track Meet of the Year!

On April 28, 2015 HMS had their first ACE Track Meet of the year. The competitors to HMS were Napa Christian and St. Johns. At the meet there were a number of events the participants could do such as: 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, 400 Meter run, 800 Meter run, Mile run, 4 by 100 Meter Relay, 4 by 400 Meter Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, and Shotput.

As a participant myself, the event was really fun. I got to do the 100 meter, 200 meter, and 4 by 100 meter relay, which was really fun! Most people don’t understand why participating in Track and Field is fun. I personally don’t understand how it isn’t. I LOVE RUNNING!

All three schools had some pretty fast runners, but Harvest came out on top. I will say that Napa Christian and St. Johns did their best and that’s what matters. But then again, this was only a practice meet, meaning it wasn’t the meet that we all look forward to at the end of the month. Fortunately, Harvest has a really good team this year. And I would know, I’ve been on the team for three years!

All three years I’ve been one of the fastest on the team. Not to brag, but you can ask anybody that saw. It always makes me mad though when I see people that don’t even make an effort do so well when it comes to running. It’s so easy! But nobody’s always in the mood to run, sadly. As a runner or someone who likes to run, I always say that running is easy. But I don’t usually think of what other people can and cannot do.

I definitely recommend trying to go for a run, or try something new that you might find interesting. When I first saw track sign ups in 6th grade, I was kind of skeptical about joining. I didn’t know whether I wanted to try or not, but then I saw that a bunch of my friends signed up and I thought it would be a good idea to try it, and I ended up loving it!
