At Harvest, Ms. Lewis cares for a number of exotic pets.

“What got you into exotic animals?” I asked Ms. Lewis, one of our a science teachers.

“I wanted people, students, to get to see animals they have never seen before and overcome some of their fears.”

What message do you hope to transmit throught these animals?

“They should learn how to care for them and learn about them.”

The first of these classroom pets was Houdini the snake. It was given to her by a student and she has had it for 16 years! Ms. Lewis told me that her most popular pets are the guinea pigs and Lexie the dog.

“My students really like the furry animals.”

Did you know that Ms. Lewis worked at marine world with dolphins for five years? Or that she has always wanted a horse?
