8th Grade Field Trip

On October 14, 8th graders took a field trip to the Century Theater to watch a documentary called He Named Me Malala.

The movie was about Malala Yousafzai, a girl from Pakistan who tried to stand up for girls’ rights to attend school. Now she is living her life in England and is still speaking out to people about equality and girls’ rights.

I think this movie was inspiring because she didn’t care that the left side of her face wasn’t working properly, she kept speaking her mind and helping girls to get an education.

One of the best parts in the movie was when Malala traveling to help girls get their education. This is a good part because the girls are so happy when she teaches them and ask them what they want to be when they grow up.

I asked a few 8th graders what they liked about the movie.

“I liked that she told her story with drawings,” said Yliana Perez.

“Besides the drawing, I liked they way she told her story and how they showed clips,” Bertha Gallegos added.

Overall, I believe that the message and story of the movie was great.
