My family and I took a trip to Yosemite National Park in the fall 2015. We drove for about five hours, playing “Guess what I’m thinking of”, a game were someone thinks of a person, place, or thing and everyone else has to guess what they are thinking of. My brothers and I were either asking “Are we there yet?”,”How much longer?”, or “When will we be there?”. If we were not playing a game, we were then either napping, listening to music, or spacing out. “I think it was fun because we played so many games!!” my little brother, Reese, says.map

We arrived at our cabin at about 12:00am and we all unpacked everything. I had a 1/2 bedroom, my older brother  and my parents got full bedrooms, and my little brother got the couch.

On Friday, we drove for an hour to Glacier Point, a mountain that you can view Yosemite Valley from the top.Once we reached the top, we took a lot of pictures! Then we walked back down to the Glacier Point Souvenir Shop and Cafeteria. I  got a blue/teal sparkling geode half, a stuffed animal of a coyote, and a beef steak stick.

We drove to Yosemite Valley and walked to Degnan’s  Deli and got sandwiches and drinks. We ate our food and when we started to get up, it started to rain! Thankfully, we all had jackets or sweaters with hoods. We walked to the Village Visitor Center. We learned how all the rocks and mountains in Yosemite formed, the animals in Yosemite and were/when you can find them, and the Indians that lived there, the Ahwahnee tribe. We also learned about how the weather now can drive some animal species to extinction.squirrel

On Saturday my family went to hike Tuolumne Grove and we hiked for an hour. We hiked two miles. We saw the Dead Tunnel Tree, a tree cut in 1886 to become a tourist attraction. After that, we drove to Curry Village and got pizza. Then, we walked to a house that had been destroyed in a rock slide a long time ago.

We then  drove to Bridalveil Falls, a waterfall that moves with the wind. We headed  back to the cabin and played Scattagories. This time, I was on a team with my dad. We came in first. Then we ate cupcakes and cake and played some more. The second round, my dad and I came in first again, my mom and little brother came in second, and my older brother came in third. Then we all went to bed.

Sunday was the last day at Yosemite, so we packed up everything and put it in the car. We drove to the Chilnualna Falls Trail. Chilnualna Falls is three hundred feet tall and is a long series of cascades culminating, or concluding with, a large drop. We hiked to the top, taking as many pictures as we could, and hiked back.

Then, we drove back to Wawona  School and and threw away all our garbage and put the recycling in the bins they belong in. We drove to Pioneer Village and learned about some of the history of Yosemite. We learned about some of the different types of wagons they have on exhibit, how Degnan’s Deli began, and so much more!

Then we drove to Yosemite Village and got food. We drove to Yosemite Falls and my parents decided to hike the Yosemite Falls Trail while my brothers and I stayed in the car. Finally, we drove home. I never thought I would miss the sun and heat so much!
