The Syrian Crisis - When Will it End?

In the Middle East along the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea lies Syria, a country of ongoing war putting ends to lives only just begun, or putting millions of children in danger. This war is said to be the worst crisis of our time.

About 25,000 lives have been lost in four and a half years and 11 million have been forced to leave their homes to escape the dangerous war. There are approximately 22.85 million citizens in Syria.

When will it stop? The answer lies in the many efforts of governments and nations, trying to create peace.

“The killing started in April 2011, when peaceful protests inspired by earlier revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia rose up to challenge the dictatorship running the country. The government responded — there is no getting around this — like monsters. Security forces quietly killed activists. Eventually, civilians started shooting back.” – Max Fisher

There have been many peace efforts including cease-fires and “freeze-zones”, but the ISIS militants simply ignore them, putting all their attempts in vain. President Obama says that we will work with Russia to put a stop to the war.

“If we cannot work together more effectively, we will all suffer the consequences. That is true for the United States, as well,” Obama says. “No matter how powerful our military, how strong our economy, we understand the United States cannot solve the world’s problems alone.”
