The Napa city council proposed a new bike plan that will be revolutionary for the Napa biking community. This plan will completely reform some streets in Napa.

The Napa city council six years ago had an idea to reform the bike lanes in Napa. These plans will cost approximately six million dollars to go through with.  Some professional cyclists are worried that this big change will affect and endanger rookie cyclists trying to get to west Browns Valley because of the many turn-offs and complex traffic. The plan was created in 2010, blueprints were made in 2015, and it will take place in 2018.

The reason this is happening is because there have been complaints about the biking system in Napa. “I recognize this is an amazingly complex project, but I think we took a very thoughtful approach to address pedestrian and bike safety,” said commissioner Jean Hasser. The new bike lanes will have traffic lights, be 5 feet wide, and will have its own lane while turning.  This will totally change the biking in Napa.
